Enda put me down for a ton on Eamonn! Danny's offering better odds there Carlo, Enda won't be back till 9:30 and I think he's coming direct to Hanley's so he prob hasn't seen your message.

Hmm, pre-match preamble requested,
History would suggest that that one of two names most likely will be engraved on the much coveted trophy and the end of this evening's play. History and past glories, however, are all for nought when seats are taken and battle begins. In this game you're as good as your last game, or even just your last hand.
So, first to the qualifiers. Both Noel and Ragged are seasoned players, both capable of building their short starting stacks with the neccessary aggression required in that predicament. I'd expect Ragged in particular to get it all in at every reasonable opportunity in a 'no gut's no glory' charge early on. Noel will no doubt show more patience, trying to pick his spots with somewhat more care whilst being prepared to play with abandon when catching hands. A run of cards early for either could put them in with a shout and don't be surprised if one of them can go deep against the odds.
Derek 'Fingers' Stevens, the epitome of aggression and not alway's controlled. One never knows with this man as he could exit on the opening hand or he could build a monster stack within half an hour. Only one thing is certain when at the table with Derek, chips will fly in to the pots and quick. Someone is going to benefit and it could be the man himself.
On to Ritchie Trench. A consistent performer, can anyone remember him not making the top ten by right? Ritchie won't be there to make up the numbers and will be looking for the right spots to make his moves. He's going to have a hand when he plays and his opponent better have one better or he'll be handing chips to a dangerous starting outsider.
Ahh, Kevin 'Clieve' Devine. The enigma. I've played against this man quite a bit and still of everyone I play regularly against he's the least one who's holdings I can figure. He might play middle pair like top straight or vice versa. Expect a lot of calls and don't be surprised at what he might hit. Rule out any starting hand at your peril.
Brian Fallon is another consistent performer. He final tables regularly during the 'regular season'. Brian went deep last time out off a middle starting stack, so this is familiar territory and he's well capable of running well again. I wouldn't expect him to be in any hurry and again he'll pick his spots and let the poker Gods decide.
Anthony 'Scratchy' Murphy is another to whom the whole experience is nothing new. Scratchy has run deep in final's here before and of course cannot be counted out. With a stack that can hurt anyone in this final, will be another that will fancy his chances especially if the early running goes his way.
Liam Lyons. I can't say I'm familiar with Liam. I expect he started playing during this League as otherwise I should know him. Fifth place in the league though won't have been a fluke and has enough in chips to give it a real go. I'll watch a bit of him tonight just to get a feel for his game so I can give him a better write up next time.
Joseph, the ShowStoppa will be itching to take this down and step out from behind the shadow of his bro (more on that soon). Make no mistake Joey is well capable of this. He plays very solid and makes few mistakes. I'd expect Joe to start slow and grow into the game as the levels increase. Will likely be involved in less pots than most of his opponents but the ones he takes down will probably be big ones.
So into the top three, and the first of which has returned to the final after being forced to qualify last time out. Mulla, has the game and the stack to really give it a go this time out. This man cashed last time as a qualifier and can potentially go further this time. A very solid performer and another I'd expect to stay out of trouble whilst playing his big hands aggressively.
The looming shadow that I spoke of earlier starts with the second chipstack and he know's how to use it. Danny McHugh, been there done that. This guy knows all about how to play and win final's. Won't be daunted by anything and will pick up pots all night long if opponents show weakness. Will be chip leader on his table and won't be shy about letting the rest of the table know it. I expect Danny to be really up for it and he'll be desperately hoping that he comes HU with his main rival at the end of the night...
And his main rival is the overall chip leader, Eamon 'Blackthing' Walsh. It won't have come as any surprise to anyone who regularly plays this League that this man has topped it with some to spare. More than a consistent performer even I have to concede his results cannot be put down entirely to overabundent luck! Won't be phased by anything, has a deep stack at his back and rarely puts a foot wrong, make no mistake this is the man that the pack is chasing. Has had a rich vein of form over the course of this league and if that continues the writing could be on the wall. Will adapt to how the table plays and will probably have the clock called on him at some stage as he carefully weighs up the tough decisions. The outcome of these thought processes could hold the key.
So who will win? That as alway's is the beauty of this game as no-one can say. Martin Regan was written off for the last final despite having one of the stronger stacks and went on to claim victory. The remainder of the players who cashed all pretty much came from nothing stacks (although I think there was a deal paying out an extra place so Enda cashed?). This shows the unpredictability of the one off final and I for one won't be making any solid predictions. (Everyone can breathe easier now that I haven't delivered the kiss of death)!!!
Good Luck all Bob
